The Dogs of AOL, By Sabrina Ko
I’m currently an intern in the Product Management group working on AOL Pictures, but a couple weeks ago, I was a 1st year MBA student at U.C. Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. With a focus on Management of Technology and Digital Media and Entertainment, AOL seemed like a great fit for me, especially with all the cool new products and features coming soon (that I can’t talk about…yet!).
When I arrived at work on my first day, I realized that AOL Mountain View has a little known benefit that makes this a really fun place to spend the majority of your day…an open-dog campus. So when I got the opportunity to write an entry for this blog, I thought…what a great way to share my obsession with dogs with all of you! We have dogs walking around in conference rooms during presentations, sunning themselves outside on the grass, and sitting on laps during meetings. There is a very diverse group of four-legged “employees” here…from three little pugs running around in a pack to a gigantic Great Dane (this dog would tower over me if it stood up!). And what’s amazing is that they all get along…at least no one has eaten anyone else yet.
We obviously love pictures, but you probably didn’t know we love dogs, too. So until I can talk about some of the features and enhancements coming out soon, check out these pictures of “The Dogs of AOL”.
The very proud Miss Z inspired this blog. She looks quite dignified in the picture below, but during today’s Pictures Team meeting, she looked like a baby sprawled out on the lap of our Principal Software Engineer.
And here’s the aforementioned pug gang – Phiju, Bayjay, and Moseboy (from left to right). Don’t mess with these troublemakers…I hear their kisses can be quite deadly.
Odin’s people have taken the “working” in “working breed” quite literally. Not only does Odin have a full-time position at AOL, but he also moonlights at a local high school.
I didn’t know cubicles were for napping, but I think Mackenzie has the right idea.
Zorro, a 5-year-old Sheltie, is the unofficial mascot. He’s an old-timer with four years of AOL experience under his belt. You’re not anybody here until Zorro says you are. Luckily for interns, he can be bribed with bagels.
