The complete list of Facebook Widgets from AOL

AOL has launched a number of Facebook widgets.  Here's a list of the one's I have used. Add some of them today, and check them out.

Facebook Fav Artist
AOL Music launched  "My Favorite Artist". This lets you view videos, music and photos from your favorite artist.  It's quite nice - just imagine all the videos you can watch on Gwen S or even the Spice Girls.  I found it needs a wee bit more social interaction (e.g. it would be good to see which friends on your friends list had the same interests in your music).     It is rich though, using videos from AOL Music's video vault and alot of great photos.

Right Now on AOL - The DL (Dynamic Lead, and not the Down Low) - otherwise known as the lead generator. This is a very good widget, available in Large or Small sizes.  You can add it to Myspace and Blogs too.  It's nice, since like AOL.COM,  you never know what lead stories you will see.     The only downside for Facebook is it doesn't "autoplay" - since it is Flash, you have to click on it to see the leads, which kind of takes away the sudden surprise you get from viewing this DL. (Facebook, unlike myspace, does not let Flash plugins run by default - you need to click on them).   On other sites like Myspace or Blogger, it plays automatically.   Yourminis.com created this widget, so like most of the widgets it works in many places.

AOL Mail for Facebook
AOL Mail has a widget that allows you to view your AOL or AIM email from Facebook  This is a nice widget that shows a preview of your email.  It would be great if it showed a preview directly on your private profile page.

My Memory Gallery Facebook App
My Memory Gallery from Bluestring is a neat widget that allows you to share photos with other Facebook users.  After setting up, you can upload photos to Bluestring, and they show on the profile.   Like the Music widget,  it can be expanded at some point to have more social features like commenting  or integrating with the photos already on Facebook.   I am sure the Bluestring.com team will be adding video and music to this soon, just as you can do on Bluestring.

AIM Wimzi is not specifically built for Facebook, and can be placed on blogs and websites like myspace (which is great!).    It does have it's own Facebook app page, so people can send you a message from your profile page.

Yedda Q&A allows you to do much of what you can do on the great Yedda web site.  Ask a question, get an answer.
Yedda Questions & Answers lets you share your personal knowledge with friends and friendly strangers, and to tap their personal knowledge through questions & answers. Ask, Answer, Explore, Connect

AOL Moviefone Widget
AOL Moviefone shows movie trailers
,allows you to search for movietimes, and the latest movies are previewed.

And finally the AOL Pictures Gallery This allows you to view your public photo album, or those with a tag.    It's a nifty little widget, created by Yourminis, and not specifically for Facebook.  Customize this on yourmins, then add it with one click to Facebook.

In Memory: Leo Pot

Today is one of those days that feels "empty" or "numb".    I attended a funeral for Leo Pot, who died on July 4th from Cancer.     Such a nice man, very successful with his businesses, and a great family.  Funny, sharp, witty.   He shared a glass of wine or two with me, and gave me thoughts on life after leaving my last job.    More important, he has a wonderful family.    It's hard seeing his 3 young daughters at the funeral, each dealing with grief.  Live each day to the fullest.  Make sure you get the most out of what you do, and spend time with people you care about. Rest in peace, Leo.   "On July 4, 2008 Leonardus Leo Josephus Pot, loving father and doting husband, left his earthly existence peacefully, at home, in the company of his family. Born in the fall of 1956 in Oegstgeest, The Netherlands to Martin and Joanne Pot, he would go on to complete a Bachelor's deg...

AOLers : Don't let people say silly things about your company

Don't let people say silly things about your company Yes I mean it. Your company. I read the blogosphere,  and often see articles on some feature or product that has been launched.   Then I follow the comments.   You get the normal AOL bashing,  some people who like it, some people who bash and have never used the product being reviewed.  All the normal stuff. But Frank Gruber set an example for me last year.  When he spots these comments, he follows up with a comment and (if possible) contacts the person who wrote the it. Often the comments don't have contact info or use real names.  But if they do, Frank will email them as follow up.  And the response is normally good.      If Frank can do it (as busy as he is), so can we all do it. The latest blog that struck me was this article " Yes, People Still Use AOL " on Silicon Alley Insider.  The first comment was negative, the third was negative.   ...

Pizza - with egg on it? A Paris delight!

Tonight at a late night snack after lots of walking, pizza... And boy did it taste good. I have never had pizza with egg on it, until in Paris. But though it looked a bit odd, it tasted yummy. What's on your pizza? Tags: pizza , paris , france
